The problem: access is still missing.

From Lebanon to the wider Arab region, Deaf people meet the same closed doors.

  1. Communication

    No interpreter, no information.

Hospitals, banks, offices and news rarely offer sign language.

    Right to know
  2. Education

    School is not enough.

Deaf schools sign, but learning beyond the classroom (Arabic, maths, English, science online) is almost never in sign language.

    Right to learn
  3. Reading and writing

    Text is not access.

Written Arabic is a second language for Deaf signers. Many adults struggle to read forms, messages and news.

    Right to literacy
  4. Life and wellbeing

    Information that passes them by.

Mental health, personal safety, family, money and rights: everyday knowledge rarely reaches Deaf people in sign language.

    Right to wellbeing
  5. Employment

    Skills out of reach.

Training in CVs, interviews, communication, business, farming or software like Photoshop is rarely offered in sign language.

    Right to work
  6. Healthcare

    Care without understanding.

    Symptoms unexplained. Instructions not understood.

    Right to health

Every Arab country has its own sign language and Deaf associations doing vital work with limited means. But services are uneven and reliable data is scarce. Lebanon, for example, has no official count of Deaf people: its disability card registry lists about 103,000 people across all disabilities. No internet? We bring the library to your school or association.

Access is a right, not a favour.

SignHub turns rights already written into international law into tools Deaf people can use today.

  • CRPD · Article 9
